During our day trips we will be exploring some beautiful Tuscan cities (Italy). Read on to discover where La Dolce Vita Retreat attendees will journey in 2020.
Both retreats will have the opportunity to visit the medieval city of Siena which is undoubtably one of the jewels of Tuscany. Famous because of its beautiful architecture and the Palio horse race that takes place twice each summer in the “Il Campo” square, it’s a town full of photo ops and pretty vistas. Yet, amongst the typical tourist shops and fashion stores, you will also find a thriving local community who call the city home and welcome the influx of tourism dollars to their city coffers.
After visiting the Siena (Italy) weekly market in the morning, attendees will be able to explore the city on their own to enjoy the local sights and have lunch before rejoining the group, later in the afternoon.
For those attending the May retreat, they will visit Cortona during our outing to the Sunday morning antique market. If you’ve read the book “Under the Tuscan Sun”, you already know a bit about the town as it’s the village where Frances Mayes bought her home, Villa Bramasole. Perched on the top of a hill, Cortona is a little jewel with quaint street scenes and some lovely restaurants.
For those attending the June retreat, they will visit Arezzo during our outing to the Sunday morning antique market. In Arezzo there are a plethora of shops, restaurants, and churches to visit. The architecture is just stunning – and if you love communing with nature, there is a lovely park beside the Cathedral at the top of the hill town that is a peaceful spot to visit.
Both retreats will be enjoying an outing in the comune of San Rapolano where we will visit a thermal bath set amongst the gently rolling Tuscan hills. Enjoy an afternoon of pure relaxation as we float in water that comes out of the ground at 39 degrees centigrade. Rich in sulphur and calcium, the waters are said to aide those with skin problems, breathing problems, and to reduce muscular aches and pains.
All excursions will be via chartered bus, fufilled by e20Toscani, their terms and conditions apply.
