More than just a job, I consider Prone to Wander Retreats my calling. A calling to leverage my curiosity about other cultures and traditions, and extensive international travelling experience, into retreats that dive deeper into who we are, and how we can be inspired, as creative beings.

The journey to landing myself here was not a straight shot. Yet, looking back I can see how life experience (hello, high school band trip that gave me my first taste of trans-continental travel) and previous jobs (I’m looking at you, Creative Director gig) were all great training grounds for the business I now own.

Since 2013 I've offered retreats in Tuscany for creative souls, artists, culinary explorers and antique lovers from all over the world. Looking forward, I have big dreams for my business. I hope you'll join me for the adventure!

Hi there! My name is Carolyn Peeler, a Canadian gal whose love of travel, and attention to detail, makes me the perfect hostess for your retreat experience.

Meet Carolyn

Travel

I adore the thrill of boarding a plane to a new destination, and take several international trips, some solo and some with my husband, each year.

Photography

Specializing in still life, product shots, travel photography, and capturing newborns, I am honoured to work for private clients and free-lance for a few publications.

Paper Crafting

Having spent more than 14+ years working professionally in the paper crafting industry, card making and scrapbooking are a huge love.

Antique Linens

Whether it's a monogrammed nightgown, handmade lace, or canapa blankets, I'm a sucker for antique European linens.

Favourite Things

Gelato

'Cause, hello! When you spend as much time in Italy as I do, access to amazing gelato is a welcome perk of the job!

Jewelry Design

There is something immensely gratifying about mixing and matching beads and findings and making something you want to wear.

Chandeliers

Over the years I've purchased 7 chandeliers and 8 wall sconce chandeliers in Europe... one could say it's an addiction :)

Italy

Whether I'm enjoying Piedmonte in the North, driving the narrow roads of Tuscany, or eating the cuccina povera of Puglia, I simply adore this country.

Baking

I fell in love with baking as a young girl who first made oatmeal muffins at my Mother's side. I make a mean pavlova, melt in your mouth sweet scones, and a coffee cake that is legendary in my husband's office.

Antique/Thrift Shopping

I love the thrill of the hunt, and decorate my house with items I've found at antique markets throughout my travels and from local thrift shops. Oh, and my wardrobe? Mostly all thrifted too!

Fabric Crafting

While I'm not an accomplished seamstress, I love to make small fabric covered books and collages. It's on my someday list to sit down with my Mom so that she can teach me how to sew properly.

Family

I've been married to my husband for 21 years and am even more crazy about him now than I was when we said "I do". He champions and encourages me to dream bigger than I dare and to have faith in myself.
