More than just a job, I consider Prone to Wander Retreats my calling. A calling to leverage my curiosity about other cultures and traditions, and extensive international travelling experience, into retreats that dive deeper into who we are, and how we can be inspired, as creative beings.
The journey to end up here, owning a travel agency, was not a straight shot. Yet, looking back I can see how life experience (hello, high school band trip that gave me my first taste of trans-continental travel) and previous jobs (I’m looking at you, Creative Director gig) were all great training grounds for the business I now own.
Since 2013, in collaboration with an outside travel agency, I've offered retreats for creative souls, artists, culinary explorers and antique lovers from all over the world.
In 2024 I took the next step in growing my company and Prone to Wander Retreats, became a licensed travel agency in British Columbia, Canada. Offering boutique women's creative lifestyle tours, I have big dreams for the future. I hope you'll join me for the adventure!
I adore the thrill of boarding a plane to a new destination, and took several international trips, some solo and some with my husband, each year (pre-covid).
Specializing in still life, product shots, travel photography, and capturing newborns, I am honoured to work for private clients and free-lance for a few publications.
Having spent more than 20+ years working professionally in the paper crafting industry, card making and scrapbooking are a huge love.
Whether it's linen bed sheets & kitchen towels, canapa blankets, monogrammed nightgowns, or handmade lace, I'm a sucker for antique European linens.
'Cause, hello! When you spend as much time in Italy as I do, access to amazing gelato is a welcome perk of the job!
There is something immensely gratifying about mixing and matching beads and findings and making something you want to wear.
Over the years I've purchased 7 chandeliers and 12 wall sconce chandeliers in Europe... one could say it's an addiction :)
Whether I'm enjoying Torino in the North, driving the narrow roads of Tuscany, or eating the cuccina povera of Puglia, I simply adore this country.
I fell in love with baking as a young girl who first made oatmeal muffins at my Mama's side. I make a mean pavlova, melt in your mouth sweet scones, and a coffee cake that was legendary in my husband's office.
I love the thrill of the hunt, and decorating my house with items I've purchased at antique markets throughout my travels brings me joy. Oh, and my wardrobe? No surprise, it's mostly thrifted too!
While I'm not an accomplished seamstress, I love to make small fabric bags, covered books and collages. I've inherited an amazing sewing machine from my mom, so learning to sew properly is on my to-do list.
I've been married to my husband for 27 years and am even more crazy about him now than I was when we said "I do". He champions and encourages me to dream bigger than I dare and to have faith in myself.
