At Prone to Wander: Marrakech we will be splitting our time between two beautiful accommodations, allowing us to experience both city and country living. All accommodations and private transfers will be booked through, and paid to, our cooperating travel agent, e20toscani.

In the Medina of Marrakech

First, we will spend 7 nights in the heart of the old city in the Medina of Marrakech at a Riad where the city will be right outside our doorstep.

What is a Riad? Meaning garden in Arabic, it is a traditional Moroccan multi-story house featuring an inner courtyard and garden. Today many such homes have been purchased and turned into guest houses in the Medina.

Our Riad will be a stylish, peaceful oasis where we can escape when the hustle and bustle of the medina becomes too much. Each room is decorated handsomely with artisan touches that will inspire you. High atop the Riad, there is an eagle’s nest look out where you can get sweeping views of the neighbourhood – and on clear days can even see the Atlas mountains! Finally, should you feel the need for a little dip to rinse the dust of the day off, there is a small plunge pool in the courtyard. 

In the countryside, at the foot of the Atlas Mountains

After exploring the city, our final 3 nights will be spent at a guesthouse located approximately 30kms outside the city centre, in the foothill of the Atlas mountains. There we will experience the difference between city living, where the Riad is a peaceful respite from the business of the medina, and country life where the home takes advantage of the stunning scenery right outside its windows and doors to create the Moroccan escape of your dreams. You will hear the bucolic bleating of sheep as the local shepherds bring their flocks home for the night and the daily adhan as the local mosque invites the faithful to prayer. The shining stars of this property are its rooftop patio and the pool area which invite you to admire the stunning vistas. You will be hard pressed to find a more relaxing place to enjoy a few days exploring the countryside than this base.

There will be a variety of room options available, including Single, Doubles, and Tripple

The following room packages are available:

SINGLE ROOMS: Typically, smaller square footage compared to the other rooms, but for those who appreciate having their privacy, these rooms are an excellent choice. Rooms have ensuite bathrooms.

DOUBLE ROOMS: At our first Riad, each person will have their own single bed, and the room has an ensuite. At our second guesthouse, some rooms will have a double bed and a single bed, and some will have one double bed. However, for a nominal cost, the property has offered to bring a single mattress into the room so that each client can have their own bed, if that’s preferred. This room also has an ensuite.

TRIPPLE ROOMS: At our first Riad, there is a shared queen bed and a single bed in a raised in a loft, accessed by a short, steep staircase. At our second guesthouse, there is a shared queen bed and a single bed. Both rooms have an ensuite.
