During our excursions we will be exploring some beautiful Tuscan cities (Italy). Both retreats will have the opportunity to visit the medieval city of Siena which is undoubtably one of the jewels of Tuscany. Famous because of its beautiful architecture and the Palio horse race that takes place twice each summer in the “Il Campo” square, it’s a town full of photo ops and pretty vistas. Yet, amongst the typical tourist shops and fashion stores, you will also find a thriving local community who call the city home and welcome the influx of tourism dollars to their city coffers.
After visiting the Siena (Italy) weekly market in the morning, attendees will be able to explore the city on their own to enjoy lunch before rejoining the group to enjoy a private tour in the afternoon. Our guide has a few secrets up her sleeve that will make our outing with her one that we won’t soon forget.
For those attending the May retreat, they will have the opportunity to visit Lucca during our outing to the antique market. A beautiful city, whose historic city centre is built inside fortified walls, a popular activity is to rent a bike from one of the many shops and ride the top of the ramparts. Known as ‘The City of 100 Churches’ there are a plethora of churches in the city center built in the renaissance, gothic, medieval and Roman eras.
For those attending the June retreat, they will have the opportunity to visit Arezzo during our outing to the antique market. In Arezzo there are a plethora of shops, restaurants, and churches to visit. The architecture is just stunning – and if you love communing with nature, there is a lovely park beside the Cathedral at the top of the hill town that is a peaceful spot to visit.
